Needless to say, we are postponing all LNN activities for the month of April. We will keep you posted if things change for any events in May. We miss you all and miss our fun activities.
Right now, it is important we all stay safe, strong and positive. Please let us know if there is any assistance you or your family may need during this time of isolation. We have many members who are willing to help and assist.
Even though we can’t meet up in person, there’s nothing preventing us from reaching out via phone call, text or email. If you want to get in touch with another member, you can find them in the LNN Directory. If you have any questions or if information needs updating, contact Sadia at membership@lexington-newcomers.org.

Book Club Thursday, March 12 at 7:30pm
Our book for March, The Hearts Invisible Furies by John Boyne, is a #1 New York Times bestseller. Cyril Avery is not a real Avery — or at least, that’s what his adoptive parents tell him. And he never will be. But if he isn’t a real Avery, then who is he? Born out of wedlock to a teenage girl cast out from her rural Irish community and adopted by a well-to-do if eccentric Dublin couple via the intervention of a hunchbacked Redemptorist nun, Cyril is adrift in the world, anchored only tenuously by his heartfelt friendship with the infinitely more glamourous and dangerous Julian Woodbead. At the mercy of fortune and coincidence, he will spend a lifetime coming to know himself and where he came from – and over his many years, will struggle to discover an identity, a home, a country, and much more.

Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home.
